Vatic are going to the World Championship Finals. They did not win the August Monthly Final. They lost the grand final by a single star, and it does not matter. The third Golden Ticket of 2026 is theirs.
The August Monthly Final ran across the weekend of August 29–30: eight teams, double elimination, Town Hall 18. ZOOS Esports came in as the June and July champions, already holding a Golden Ticket, and the roll-down rule turned that into the story of the weekend before a single attack was thrown. A team can only hold one ticket. If the holders won a third time, the seat would pass to whoever was standing opposite them at the end.
ZOOS won a third time. Vatic were standing opposite them.
Third final, and finally the one that counted
Vatic have been at every Monthly Final this season. Only two other teams can say that: ZOOS Esports and Repotted Gaming. Vatic's first two attempts were the least convincing of the three.
In June they won their opening war against Saturn eSports and were gone inside two more, losing to MG ESPORTS on destruction after a 12–12 tie and then falling 11–10 to CB7 Esports. In July they were beaten by Tribe Gaming in the opening round, survived Transcendence, then ran into Repotted Gaming and finished sixth. Two Monthly Finals, two early exits, no medal.
The lead-in to August looked different. Vatic went unbeaten through four wars in the Monthly Qualifier, including back-to-back 14-star performances against On Fire!! and MG ESPORTS, and arrived at the final as the number two seed. For the first two days, that seeding looked exactly right, and then exactly wrong.
The seed that slipped
The opening round was routine: 12 stars and 91.40 percent against footsteps2, comfortable enough at two stars clear. The upper-bracket semi-final against Tribe Gaming was anything but.
Both teams were within touching distance of each other all war. Tribe finished on 13 stars and 94.40 percent; Vatic on 12 and 93.80. One star, six-tenths of a percent, and the number two seed was in the lower bracket with the tournament's whole field of survivors between them and the grand final.
The road back
What followed was the longest road of the weekend, and one of the strangest, because the first step of it was not a war at all.

The lower-bracket opener never happened: RNG x TPM forfeited, and Vatic advanced without throwing an attack. It is the one blemish on an otherwise earned run, and it put them into a Carrie Esports war they could not afford to treat as a bonus.
They didn't. Carrie had already knocked out Repotted Gaming 13–12 earlier that day, and they matched Vatic star for star, 11 apiece. The war fell to destruction, and Vatic had 95.00 percent to Carrie's 92.20: the only war all weekend they won without winning the star column.
Then came the rematch. Tribe Gaming had knocked Vatic out of the upper bracket on Saturday and had just been beaten by ZOOS in the upper final; the winner of the lower final would take the last grand-final seat. Vatic produced the best war anyone played all weekend, 13 stars at 98.60 percent, and the 2025 world champions, on 11 stars and 95.60 percent, were out in third for the second month running.
That win also settled the ticket before the grand final was fought. With ZOOS waiting and already holding June's Golden Ticket, Vatic could no longer lose the seat: beat ZOOS twice and take it as champions, or lose and inherit it as runners-up. Only the trophy was still in play.
The grand final: one star short
There was no repeat of July's bracket reset. ZOOS came in unbeaten and needed one win; Vatic needed two.
They got neither, but only just. ZOOS closed on 13 stars and 92.00 percent against Vatic's 12 and 89.40: a single star, the same margin that had sent Vatic down on day one. ZOOS Esports are now three-for-three in Monthly Finals in 2026, unbeaten in the August bracket, and still without an answer written against them in a war that decides a title.
Who did the work
Five players, five wars, 25 attacks, 60 stars. Ten of those attacks were triples.

KingsMan was the pick of them. Thirteen stars from five attacks at 97.40 percent average destruction is elite in any month, and he saved the cleanest of it for last: in the lower final and the grand final he went two-for-two on triples at a perfect 100 percent.
The ticket rolls down
The rulebook is explicit: a team can only hold one Golden Ticket. ZOOS took theirs in June, so July's rolled down to Repotted Gaming and August's rolls down to Vatic. The slot on the qualification board reads August Runner-up, and the five names on it are Anat, TryHard, KingsMan, Synthé, and Nès4X.
Three Monthly Finals into the season, three Golden Tickets are gone and not one of them has been won by the team that lifted the trophy that month. ZOOS keep winning; everyone else keeps qualifying behind them.
Five seats remain: September's Monthly Final, the China regional, and three from the Last Chance Qualifier.

Vatic spent two Monthly Finals learning the shape of this bracket and a third one walking all the way through the back of it. They lost their last war of the weekend and they are still going to Worlds, which is the whole point of a roll-down, and the reason the September Monthly Final now carries the same strange arithmetic. If ZOOS win a fourth, someone else gets the ticket again.
